LeBron James will not be present at Friday’s game at Acrisure Arena and is expected to play on Sunday

According to a report from ESPN, LeBron James will not play in Friday night’s game against Minnesota at Acrisure Arena, but will play in Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

LeBron James, coming off a summer that included an Olympic gold medal, will rest Friday and be on the sidelines for the Lakers’ first preseason game against the Timberwolves, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday’s game against the Suns, also at Acrisure Arena, tips them off at 6:30 p.m

Although LeBron won’t be playing on Friday, there will still be some notable aspects to Friday’s game.

It will be the first game as Lakers head coach for JJ Redick, and it could also be the first game in a Lakers jersey for Bronny James, LeBron’s son. Bronny was drafted by the Lakers in April and could make his NBA debut on Friday.

“Pure joy”: LeBron and Bronny James are ready to make NBA history as the first NBA father-son duo

Bronny spoke to the media at Acrisure Arena after the Lakers had a 10:30 a.m. shootout on Friday and was asked what his feelings were before Friday’s game.

“Of course there are nerves,” Bronny said. “It’s all there. But I’m just excited to go out there and learn and learn from the people that are playing in front of me. And if I get the chance to showcase my game, then I will do it to the best of my ability.”
