Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and NFL legend Tom Brady paid their respects to A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces after she set a WNBA single-season record for most points.
Both stars reacted on social media after Wilson outscored the Seattle Storm’s Jewell Loyd with her 27-point performance in the win over the Indiana Fever.
The 6’4″ forward is well on her way to becoming the greatest female basketball player in modern history. A national champion at the University of South Carolina, she has won two WNBA titles, two MVP titles, two Defensive Player of the Year nominations and six All-Star honors since entering the pro league. She also won her second Olympic gold medal this summer and was the MVP of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. And at 28, she’s far from done on the court.
The 2024 WNBA season is a prime example of how it continues to exceed sky-high expectations.
Wilson played at such a high level in 2023 that many thought she simply couldn’t get any better; even the greats reach their limits at some point. Instead, she is averaging more points (27.3), rebounds (11.9) and blocks (2.7) than she did last season.
Brady basically described Wilson as one of a kind and that’s exactly what she is. Fans should enjoy what she does this year because it might be a long time before another star reaches that peak.
