Huge Skywalk

The big attraction here is the “Skywalk” – you really can’t miss it. It’s this huge structure that catches your eye as you drive past. The walkway is covered, about 10 meters long and 5 meters high. My kids, ages 4 and 6, were really excited about it once they figured out the rope ladder. I must say though, it might be a little difficult for little ones without help. But for the older kids, it’s great fun – they can climb, slide and explore to their heart’s content.

Three unique playgrounds for endless fun

But that’s only part of the fun. The park is split into three different playgrounds, each with its own cool stuff. There’s everything from embankment swings to ground-level rope courses and all kinds of slides and climbing frames. The entire area is covered in artificial grass and a rubberized surface, so you don’t have to worry too much about the kids getting hurt while running around.

The Splash Pad that is worth it

Another cool addition is the newly designed Splash guard. It’s the perfect place to cool off when it gets hot. It’s open from Memorial Day through the end of the summer season, which is great. The splash area has shaded benches and picnic tables, and they even put up an awning over part of it so the kids have some protection from the sun while they play. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, through September 30th.

My kids were completely fixated on the water slide. They could have spent the whole day there. However, I did see a few kids go down a little too fast and land a little awkwardly – but nothing serious. The improvements Carmel Parks has made to this slide definitely seem to have improved safety.

Navigating the Park: A Parent’s Perspective

The layout is quite convenient for families. The first playground is close enough to the wading pool that the kids can easily run back and forth. It gets a little tricky though if one child wants to stay at the wading pool while the other wants to go to the skywalk at the back of the park. But overall it’s manageable and the kids are always within the park boundaries so I didn’t have too much stress keeping an eye on them.
