Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky make their red carpet debut in Venice

When it comes to red carpet attire, Lady Gaga always puts a lot of emphasis on her look – whether she’s wearing an avant-garde design made from car parts or an old Hollywood-style Valentino gown. So it’s only natural that the actress and singer brought her signature fashion drama to the Venice Film Festival today. In town to promote Joker: Foil for Two Gaga danced alongside co-star Joaquin Phoenix with her unmistakable “Mother Monster” style. The dark romance! This headpiece! Now The is a statement look. And even better: she and her fiancé Michael Polansky walked as one, celebrating their first joint appearance on the red carpet.

Gaga opted for a sculptural design by Dior. The variation on a classic dress featured a plunging neckline and a full, wavy skirt. This hem is large– it takes up space and requires a star of Gaga’s stature to wear it. As does her theatrical lace headpiece designed by master milliner Philip Treacy (from his Fall 2001 Couture collection). For jewelry, the star wore shimmering pieces from Tiffany & Co. Gaga wore Tiffany’s platinum and 18-karat yellow gold diamond necklace, as well as the label’s platinum and diamond earrings and platinum and diamond Victoria bracelet.

Sure, the Venice Film Festival has delivered plenty of standout looks throughout the week – but Gaga’s commitment to turning heads and creating a moment proves that she’s in a league of her own. And the best part? We have a whole Joker press tour to look forward to. This is just the beginning. Come and put your paws up – we’re back!
