There is no doubt that gas prices are high everywhere.
With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, CBS13 and the Call Kurtis consumer investigation team have discovered a way to save a dollar per gallon of gas.
Think about it. If you have a 16-gallon tank, you’re saving $16. And you can use this deal for three tanks, so you’re saving at least $48.
Prices at the pump are currently staggering for all of us. A gallon of gas costs either $4 or $5.
“They’re ridiculous,” said Paul of Sacramento. “They don’t have to be that high.”
“Every year they get worse,” said Cindy Belmain of Sacramento.
“It’s just gotten so expensive,” says Keyana Raihani, who lives in Sacramento’s River Park neighborhood. Raihani has a long commute to work in Marysville. We met her at a gas station at Chevron, where she’s getting a dollar off a gallon on her next three fill-ups.
But how?
It’s easy. Download the Chevron app and sign up for the Chevron Texaco Rewards program, then scan your app at the pump or enter your phone number to get your $1 per gallon discount for three tanks.
You then collect points and receive up to 50 cents off per gallon.
Raihani zapped the QR code at the gas station. If she had had the app before filling up, she would have saved $12.55 on that visit and received another $1 per gallon on two subsequent gas stops.
“I’m looking forward to saving a little gas,” she said.
Of course, the lure for Chevron is to lure you into their loyalty program. Grocery stores like Safeway have been doing this for some time.
But after you’ve saved three times in a row, there’s nothing stopping you from moving on to Chevron and you’ll have to start looking for the next offer.
