Justin Jefferson (Quad) says he is “ready” for Week 3

Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson does not expect to miss a game after leaving his team’s 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers with a bruised right quadriceps.

“I’m not seriously injured,” Jefferson said. “That’s the most important thing. Now it’s just about getting in the training room and making sure my body is OK for next week so I can be ready to go next Sunday.”

Jefferson caught four passes for 133 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown in the second quarter, the longest of his career, before sustaining the injury while blocking a running play with 13:06 left in the game. He appeared to collide with 49ers linebacker Fred Warner and Vikings center Garrett Bradbury on the play and was escorted off the field by medical personnel.

Jefferson missed seven games last season with a torn hamstring in the same leg, but neither he nor coach Kevin O’Connell seemed concerned about the long-term prognosis of Sunday’s injury. The Vikings host the Houston Texans in Week 3 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

“It’s pretty sore,” O’Connell said. “(But) he’s up and moving around, and we’re just going to treat that thing and hopefully he can take it day by day, and we’ll see what his condition is next week.”

ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry contributed to this story.
