How much will we spend on gas to take our kids to college or drive them to school?
Can you believe it’s that time again? As the seasons change and travel habits change, so do gasoline prices.
But that’s not the only factor: GasBuddy analyst Patrick DeHaan cites poor jobs reports and Tropical Storm Debby as reasons for the drop in gasoline prices, but says the unrest in the Middle East is not playing a major role.
Coming back to east-central Illinois, we can always try to save a few cents by choosing the cheapest gas station.
Here’s our most comprehensive look at affordable gas options yet, with nine counties on the list. Prices reflect those listed at the time of writing.
Champagne:
- Haymaker’s, Circle K, Quiktrip and Sam’s Club all compete with similar prices; regular gasoline was listed at $3.39 per gallon.
Cinnabar:
- Head to Oakwood, as Casey’s, Phillips 66 and Speedway are all tied in town at $3.32.
Douglas:
- The price of gasoline is still unbeatable at $3.28 per gallon.
That’s the price you pay at Atwood Casey’s and Tuscola Casey’s, Love’s and FuelMart.
The Tuscola Road Ranger, normally the cheapest gas station in this part of the state, is currently one cent more expensive.
Ford:
- ZeelMart in Sibley is your best option for $3.58.
DeWitt:
- The lowest price we could find was $3.66 at Clinton Casey’s, Marathon and Phillips 66.
Platt:
- Try the Monticello Mobil, currently $3.59.
Iroquois:
- One more alliteration for you: The Chebanse Casey’s seems to be the lowest at $3.43.
Moultrie:
- Howy’s Lakeside in Sullivan offers you an attractive deal for $3.49.
It’s been a while since I visited Sullivan, but rumor has it that Howy’s is also a great local general store.
Edgar: Your best bet (it was when I lived in the city!) is Murphy USA in Paris with a list price of $3.65.
