Jordan Love active for Packers Week 4 vs. Vikings; Not Jaire Alexander

play

GREEN BAY − Jordan Love is active today against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback will officially miss just two games after suffering a knee injury that sidelined him late in the team’s opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a best-case scenario for the Packers, who initially assumed Love could be out for at least a month because of the torn medial ligament (MCL) in his left knee. The Packers have won their last two games without Love, but their franchise quarterback returns in time to face the NFC North’s last undefeated team at home.

It’s far from the ideal scenario for the Packers’ defense. Cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (hamstring/groin) and Carrington Valentine (ankle) are inactive against the Vikings. It’s the second straight game Alexander has missed against Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, one of his nemesis. Her absence leaves the Packers’ defense to cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Corey Ballentine.

The Packers held Jefferson in check late last season in Minnesota, holding him to five catches on 10 targets for 59 yards and no touchdowns. But Jefferson has quickly developed chemistry with new Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, who has caught 10 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns in the past two weeks.

In addition to Alexander and Valentine, safety Kitan Oladapo, defensive end Brenton Cox Jr., offensive lineman Jordan Morgan (shoulder), tackle Travis Glover and defensive tackle Colby Wooden are also inactive for the Packers.

The Vikings have a full complement of starters, including healthy running back Aaron Jones in his return to Lambeau Field.
