Joey Farmer was the best forecaster in the weekly tempo race held on August 13 on the paved tracks starting at Pinon Park (Rocket Park) in White Rock. He was 11 seconds off his predicted time. Other accurate forecasters were: Chris Michel, 14 seconds behind; Steve Daly and Jan Velechovsky were tied at 15 seconds, with Daly also the best finisher in the 1-mile at 11:15; Catherine Hensley, 18 seconds behind and the best female finisher in the 1-mile at 17:24; and Madeline Harms, 20 seconds behind.
In the 2-mile course, Teddy Atkins, junior, was first with a time of 21:02 and 12-year-old Lily Nolen was the best woman with a time of 26:07.
James Zola was the best runner in the 3-mile distance with a time of 21:07 and Lynn Bjorklund was the first woman with a time of 26:01.
Next week’s race will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the County Aquatic Center on Canyon Road. Available are 1-mile paved runs as well as 1 and 3-mile trail runs.
