Jey Uso wins his first singles title, reactions on social media

It is his time.

Jey Uso won his first singles title on Monday night in Ontario, California by defeating Bron Breakker in an epic final match on Monday Night Raw to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

The match had the character of a standout match at a premier live event and the result was a bit of a surprise as we don’t normally see titles change hands on Raw or SmackDown.

It was also surprising that Breakker lost the title so early in his reign, but the cheers from the crowd seemed to indicate that the WWE Universe was pleased that the main event would feature Jey Uso as a singles competitor.

It took a few Spears and Uso Splashes to get the win, but Jey pulled it off and social media exploded after his victory. After Raw went off the air, an emotional Jey was photographed in the crowd with his adoring fans.

What was particularly noteworthy was that Jey’s colleagues and his boss at WWE congratulated the new Intercontinental Champion at X.

Bayley, also a WWE veteran, congratulated Jey on his title win. She described the atmosphere in the picturesque but noisy Toyota Arena:

Jey’s former tag team partner and current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes kept his post short, but “Yeet.”

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are apparently on the verge of splitting up in New Day, but as another hard-hitting veteran who only made his breakthrough late in his career, he took his hat off to Uso.

Damian Priest praised Uso for his hard work and congratulated him.

Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, called Uso “a living embodiment of hard work paying off.”

Last but not least, Mami congratulated X to congratulate Uso on his victory.

How long will Uso keep his IC title? It would be a surprise if he reigned for a long time. It would not be a surprise if he lost it to Bron Breakker in a rematch. Breakker does not seem to be done with his rise up the WWE ranks.

Uso is 39 years old and it’s time for him to achieve his goal of becoming a singles champion. Breakker turns 27 in October and is just starting to break through as a major WWE Superstar.

Breakker has everything you could want in a main event star. However, Monday night belonged to Jey Uso.
