Soon, New York will be able to return to the beginning of the Aaron Rodgers era. The four-time MVP suffered a season-ending Achilles tear four offensive snaps into 2023, dashing Gang Green’s high expectations and shaking up the Jets fan base. Rodgers likely won’t play in the preseason, but he’s on track to start Week 1 of the regular season alongside Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson and new Jet Mike Williams.

Commanders’ rookie quarterback and second-round draft pick Jayden Daniels, who is nearly half Rodgers’ age, will lead the next generation of Washington football. He will have plenty of support, with former All-Pro back Austin Ekeler, spectacular wide receiver Terry McLaurin and young stars Jahan Dotson and Brian Robinson Jr. The future looks bright in the nation’s capital.

This is the first preseason game for both teams, so expect a lot of rookies and practice squad players to get playing time. Decisions on roster cuts are made quickly, so these friendlies will play a big role in who ultimately makes the teams’ final 53-man roster or not.

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season begins with Patrick Mahomes and the defending champion Chiefs facing reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

The season’s opening game will be broadcast on NBC on September 5 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Chiefs will attempt to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.
