Jennifer Lopez performs at the American Music Awards to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary, unfazed by the Ben Affleck | fiasco Hollywood

Jennifer Lopez recently performed at the American Music Awards (AMAs) to mark the ceremony’s 50th anniversary. During the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary special that aired on Sunday, October 6th.

“It’s pretty incredible, isn’t it? Fifty Years of the American Music Awards. I remember seeing them at home when I was a little girl,” she shared in the AMAs’ taped interview. Her nostalgia continued as she looked back on her very first performance at the AMAs in 2001.

Lopez’s appearance on the special comes amid her ongoing split from actor Ben Affleck. The couple was recently spotted having lunch together with their children at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel on September 14. Despite the friendly outing, sources close to Lopez and Affleck confirm that they are “still moving forward with the divorce” and remain focused on co-parenting their children.

As Lopez continued in the video, laughing as footage of her performance from that year appeared on the screen, she shouted, “What? It’s been so long – but the energy in the room was very electric.” Wearing a pink silk pussy-bow blouse for the segment, Lopez spoke about how the excitement of being part of the AMAs has stayed with her over the years.

“Winning a fan-voted award is very special because it comes directly from the people you make the music for. It’s just a humbling experience,” she said, recalling 2011 when she won the award for favorite Latin American artist.

Lopez also took time to look back on the year she hosted the AMAs in 2015, calling the role “a great honor.”

“I decided that I was going to change every time I was out there (on stage),” she explained. “We did this dance medley to all these great songs from that year, and I wanted everyone to feel that love and energy.”
