Hoda Kotb was teased endlessly on Thursday Today aired when Jenna Bush Hager made it her mission to set her up with Lenny Kravitz, who was visiting to play music from his new album Blue electric light.
The co-hosts interviewed Kravitz briefly in the Today Plaza in New York City when Bush Hager drew her attention to Kotb’s leather pants.
“Hoda doesn’t always wear leather, but…” she started to say until Kravitz interrupted her to tease Kotb as well.
“She thinks she’s clever. I heard her last night. I heard the door open. I was just about to take a nap and I heard the door open -” he began.
“Wait, excuse me!” Bush Hager replied, while Kotb laughed along.
“And this morning the light came on in the closet and I was missing a pair of pants!” he finished. “I noticed you.”
Kotb explained with a laugh, “He says I snuck in and stole his pants.” She and Kravitz laughed together at that part.
Bush Hager, who evidently sensed a certain chemistry between her co-host and the rock star, then shamelessly asked Kravitz a question that apparently stunned him: “Look, I know you’re starting a new chapter. Are you looking for love?”
Kravitz paused before answering, “That’s an interesting question. I mean, always. Love is all there is.”
“Well, I know a woman with an electric connection, if you want her number,” Bush Hager replied. “She’s right here.”
Kotb tried to cut her co-host off before she could embarrass her any further. “Okay, whatever!” she interjected.
Bush Hager has been teasing Kotb about the rock star for a long time, ever since Gayle King asked him in a viral interview on CBS, “Do you have a better half in your life? And can I spank her if she does?”
Kotb and Bush Hager laughed together about the interview in a June episode of Today but Kotb admitted: “The thing is, you’d have to be in a cage fight with Gayle King to get (him).”
But Bush Hager could imagine Kotb and Kravitz living happily ever after – even in matching leather pants.
“I would imagine you all going to the gym. You would wear workout clothes, he would wear leather and just go for it,” she told Kotb.
