Iran warns of severe retaliation against Israel after a rocket attack on Tel Aviv. The Israeli military says it will respond at a certain point.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards would carry out “devastating attacks” against Israel if the country retaliated for the rocket attack, a statement carried by Fars news agency said. “If the Zionist regime responds to Iranian operations, it will face devastating attacks,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said after Iran launched a rocket attack on Israel’s Tel Aviv.

What the Israeli military said about the attack

However, Israel vowed to retaliate, with its army spokesman saying it would respond at the time and place of its choosing.

“This attack will have consequences. We have plans and will operate at the place and time we decide,” said Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, according to the AFP news agency.

The Israeli military also said it had intercepted a large number of missiles fired by Iran into the country, but that there had been some “hits” during the shelling.

“We conducted a large number of interceptions. There were some hits in the center and other areas in the south of the country,” said Daniel Hagari.

The USA had warned Israel about the attack

This came after the United States warned of an impending Iranian ballistic missile attack on Israel, warning that it would have “serious” consequences for Tehran. The attack was the second Iranian attack on Israel following a missile and drone attack in April in retaliation for a deadly Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Israel said that almost all of the ammunition fired in that attack was intercepted by Israel or its allies.

Iran had previously warned that the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Gen. Abbas Nilforoushan, a top commander of the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of Iran’s Guard, “will not go unanswered.” They were killed in an Israeli attack on Beirut on Friday.
