Is Jordan Addison playing today? Vikings WR went silent in the first half of the London game against the Jets

Sam Darnold’s connection to Justin Jefferson is about as strong as the Vikings were hoping for, but the hope going into Sunday’s game was that Jordan Addison would take on a larger role in Minnesota’s offense.

Addison missed Weeks 2 and 3 due to injury, but made his presence felt in his return in Week 4 with two touchdowns against the Packers. Still, it seemed like there was room for Addison to step up even more against the Jets, as he only had three catches in the win.

The Vikings’ offense was up and down in the first half in London, with Jefferson making some big plays but Darnold taking a few tough hits. Minnesota ended the half in control, leading 17-7, but the offense only scored one touchdown.

Here’s what you need to know about Addison’s status after he went without a catch in the first half against the Jets.

Is Jordan Addison playing today?

Addison is healthy and playing against the Jets, but was held without a catch in the first half.

Darnold had Addison in his sights, although perhaps not as much as many fantasy owners would like. Addison was targeted twice in the first half and did not complete either pass. He finally got involved with two catches early in the third quarter, including a 27-yard grab.

There is no sign that Addison was struggling with injury early on, despite an ankle problem that sidelined him for two weeks in September. Darnold only completed six passes in the first half, four of which went to Jefferson, so there simply weren’t enough passes for the rest of the Vikings’ receiving corps.

The Jets’ defense tightened the screws as the first half progressed, making the Vikings’ passing game more difficult. Darnold racked up three sacks, putting him under constant pressure as New York’s defense tried to offset a brutal first half on offense.

The Vikings could try to play it safe with a second-half lead, although the running game might not be as effective with Aaron Jones (hip) dealing with an injury of his own. If they are forced to pass, Addison may be too talented not to work his way into the box at some point.
