PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An investigation is ongoing after shots were fired in a dispute in a grocery store parking lot earlier this week.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, police were called to Kuhn’s Market on Highwood Street around 2 p.m. Friday because shots were reportedly fired.

Police spoke to a longtime security guard who told them he escorted a man out of the store who was allegedly verbally abusive toward employees. Once outside, the man got into his car and the security guard said he believed the man was going to pull a gun from under his seat.

This caused the security guard to draw his weapon.

From there, a sort of “physical altercation” ensued between the security guard and the man, with the man clutching his gun, whereupon the security guard fired a shot.

After firing one shot, the security guard put away his gun, pulled out pepper spray and fired at the man, who then fled in a green Subaru hatchback.

Police searched the area but could not find the suspect.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Pittsburgh Police.
