“Inside Out 2” is now streaming on Disney+ along with other Pixar films

According to Pixar Studios, the film follows newly minted teenager Riley as she struggles with something unexpected: new emotions. “Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust,” who have long been running a successful operation, according to the studio, are unsure how to feel when fear arises.

In the first Inside Out film, viewers encountered the emotions of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear, all living in the mind of a young girl named Riley. In the second part, Riley has just become a teenager and four new emotions are added. These emotions are fear, boredom, envy and embarrassment.

The new feeling Ennui represents the feeling of boredom. Ennui is a word of French origin that means “a feeling of tiredness and dissatisfaction,” according to Merriam-Webster.

Disney, Pixar Studios and the Midwest

While Pixar Studios is headquartered in Emeryville, California, the animation studio has film ties to the Midwest. Inside Out fans will remember that, according to Pixar, Riley is uprooted from her Midwestern life in Minnesota before traveling to San Francisco.
