Inside Hoda Kotb’s move to the suburbs before leaving “Today”

Hoda Kotb is trading hectic mornings on the “Today” show for a more relaxed suburban life with her kids.

As Page Six has learned, before announcing her departure from the morning news program after 26 years, the popular journalist recently bought a house in Bronxville, New York, to make a fresh start.

Homebuilding company EC Builders Inc. said in an August 19 Instagram post that it had been commissioned to transform Kotb’s new property in just “a few months” using designs from Rona Schloss.

EC Builders Inc. said they completed the “remodeling project just in time for Hoda Kotb and her family to settle in for a few weeks at the end of the summer.”

The presenter, who has daughters Haley (7) and Hope (4) with her ex Joel Schiffman, seemed thrilled with the result of the renovation and was beaming from ear to ear as she sat on her sofa.

Earlier Thursday, when Kotb emotionally explained her decision to leave “Today,” she said her two girls were a big reason she wanted to start this new chapter.

“I thought they deserved a bigger piece of my time pie than I have,” she said on the live show.

“I feel like we only have a limited amount of time. And given that, it’s the hardest thing in the world.”

Bronxville seems like a great neighborhood for Kotb to raise her daughters in, as the area has an award-winning school system and the city is home to two college campuses: Sarah Lawrence and Concordia.

Earlier this month, the mother of two, who previously lived on the Upper West Side, raved about her new neighborhood to co-host Jenna Bush Hager.

“Everything has changed so much. I have a whole new city and a whole new school and all these new things,” she said at the time on “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” according to Realtor.com.

“We were there on our first day of school. I had coffee, wore sneakers and walked my kids to school like normal people. It was great.”

Kotb’s quaint English-style village has a yellow brick street that runs through the historic residential district, surrounded by shops, restaurants and homes dating from the 19th century to the 1960s.

Bronxville is also considered a “wealthy” community and ranked 8th on Bloomberg’s list of “America’s 100 Richest Places” in 2018.

However, one local resident once told the New York Times: “There’s nothing flashy or fancy about it. It’s a hive of activity all day long.”

Another added: “Everyone walks, even children, and yet we are half an hour from Grand Central.”

Although it is outside the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, it is still relatively close to the Big Apple.

Bronxville is about 45 minutes from New York City by train and just 35 minutes by car.

Although Kotb has left her appearances on “Today” and “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” we’re told producers hope to entice the well-known news anchor to stay on the shows “in some capacity.”

“We have time to work this out,” a source noted, after raising the possibility that Kotb might continue to do special interviews or her podcast, “Making Space.”
