However, one of the biggest questions that will pop into your mind after watching Deadpool 3 is, in what time frame does this all take place. So I’m going to give you a simple answer as to what timeline Deadpool 3 takes place in.
Most of Deadpool 3 takes place in the Void
Yes, you read that right, most of the events in Deadpool 3 take place in The Void, which we first saw in the Loki TV series on Disney Plus. This means that most of the major events in Deadpool & Wolverine take place outside of any timelines. However, there are references to multiple timelines in the film.
Deadpool 3 Interviews for the Avengers in Prime Earth (Earth-616)
We know that Deadpool 3 is a direct sequel to Deadpool 2. So, as we saw at the end of Deadpool 2, Cable’s time machine is now in the hands of Deadpool.
In the first few minutes of Deadpool 3, we see that Deadpool gives Happy Hogan an interview to join the Avengers. However, he is rejected and Happy Hogan tells him that maybe one day he will have a chance and that he will keep an eye on Deadpool. Deadpool reaches the 616 timeline using Cabel’s time travel machine, but when he fails to join the Avengers, he travels back to his timeline.
Deadpool moves to the Fox universe (Earth-10005) before being kidnapped by TVA
After that, we see that Deadpool is back in his timeline in the Fox universe (Earth-10005), where he is a car salesman. However, that doesn’t work out so well for him either. Here, he is kidnapped by the TVA and is told that if he lets his timeline die, he can join the MCU. However, Deadpool doesn’t agree with that and goes in search of a suitable Wolverine variant, which is where the story of Deadpool 3 begins.
Deadpool 3 ends in the timeline of the Fox universe (Earth-10005)
The final act of Deadpool and Wolverine takes place in the Fox Universe timeline. Mr. Paradox tells Deadpool that he will destroy his timeline with his Time Ripper machine, and this is where Deadpool and Wolverine come after escaping The Void to stop Mr. Paradox.
However, things take a turn and Cassandra Nova appears, threatening the entire multiverse. It was now up to Deadpool and Wolverine to save all of reality, which they do in the film’s epic finale.
In between, Deadpool also travels to several timelines to find a suitable Wolverine who can help him save his world. However, the film does not reveal which timelines these are.
