Some big plans for the future of the Disney Parks were revealed at D23 2024, and among the many upcoming events and attractions, one in particular worries me. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that Disney World will be adding so much to the Magic Kingdom, and I appreciate Hollywood Studios getting an area dedicated to Monsters Inc. However, the fact that the company has not disclosed the exact location of the new area worries me. In this sense, if those in power are even thinking about Muppet Vision 3D To make room for the roller coaster, I’m going to run around the park like Animal.
I’ll be honest: Hollywood Studios needs more attractions to keep its visitors occupied. While I could spend all day at Galaxy’s Edge debating which attraction is the best, after riding Mickey’s Runaway Railway once, there’s not much left for me to enjoy. The only exception is a wonderful oasis that takes you back to a simpler time, and a fifteen-minute show that offers a much-needed respite from the hot Florida sun. So let’s talk about why I wouldn’t mind if the Muppets were theoretically pushed out.
Muppet Vision 3D should be designated a historical landmark
There are some Disney-owned rides that visitors consider sacred, regardless of their age. I believe that at least one ride in each park should remain undisturbed forever to evoke nostalgia in visitors. Surely many of us still wish The great film journey was still there, but now that it’s gone, Muppet Vision 3D is one of the few remaining attractions from the early 90s that hasn’t changed all that much.
Not only that, but the show itself is a reminder of how far animation has come. Waldo C. Graphic, the digital character introduced in the show, represents one of the first attempts by a studio to create characters using computers. Without these sometimes crude creations, fans would never have seen a film like this. Vaiana – The wonderful world of lovewhich CinemaBlend considers to be one of the best films that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever produced.
I would also like to add that Disney Parks gave the theater and the Miss Piggy statue a nice makeover a few years ago and it all looks snazzy. And despite the changes, the place still evokes the feelings I had as a kid and I loved taking my kid there to see her reaction too. There has to be a way for the public to give rides protected status because I’m going to go crazy if Muppet Vision 3D gets torn down for a while. Monsters Inc.. Coasters.
The removal of Muppet Vision 3D would eliminate one of the only real Muppet areas in the Disney Parks
If Muppet Vision 3D is removed, it’s safe to assume that the rest of the surrounding areas will disappear as well. No more Miss Piggy statue, no more delicious pizza from PizzeRizzo across the street. I can’t stand the thought. Is it worth destroying such an area for an attraction that could take its place?
While we don’t know for sure, there’s a chance Disney thinks so, and that’s my biggest fear. Let’s face it, the studio put no effort into making the original Muppet Babies available to Disney+ subscription holders. There are plenty of Muppets that never got enough attention within the franchise, but the intellectual property as a whole doesn’t have a huge modern footprint in the Disney family as it is. If there isn’t even a new Muppet movie or show in the offing for audiences, Disney could at least let them enjoy this space at Hollywood Studios to remember the heyday of Jim Henson’s beloved characters. I’d rather not get a lifetime ban for turning into an animal and roaming around the park.
Fans will just have to keep their eyes peeled for more details on what’s coming to the Disney Parks. I hope there’s no news about Muppet Vision 3D being canceled, but it’s hard to say what the future holds in terms of expansions.
