Idaho Public Utilities Commission accepts comments on proposed natural gas pricing changes in North Idaho | Idaho

One application focuses on adapting the Fixed cost adjustment (FCA) Tariff. The FCA is a mechanism that separates the amount of energy a utility sells from the revenue it collects, thereby encouraging energy conservation. This method allows Avista to cover fixed costs without having to sell more energy, which could lead to higher profits without increased consumption.

Avista has also submitted a second request to adjust its Adjustment of the cost of purchased gas (PGA)The PGA is designed to reflect the actual cost of natural gas consumed by customers and allows the company to regularly update tariffs based on current gas prices.

If the Commission approves these requests, residential customers who use an average of 64 therms of gas per month could see a significant reduction in their bills. The typical monthly bill would drop from $78.03 to $59.37, a savings of $18.66 per month.

The public is invited to submit written comments on these proposed rate changes. Comments on the FCA proposal, Case number AVU-G-24-01will be accepted until October 10, 2024For the PGA application: Case number AVU-G-24-02the deadline for comments is October 16, 2024.
