An ice cream parlor has expanded, opening a new location in Sarasota’s St. Armands Circle shopping and dining district, taking over the space of a former restaurant that focused on another Italian staple.

Settimi’s Gelato is now open at 309 John Ringling Blvd. in the former space of fast-casual and pasta-focused concept DalMoros Fresh Pasta to Go, which opened its St. Armands Circle location in 2022 before closing permanently earlier this year. Settimi’s opened its original location at 367 St. Armands Circle more than 20 years ago, and the ice cream shop plans to keep both locations open, owner Isidro Lodi said.

“We had the opportunity to open another location in St. Armands and we decided to take it,” said an email sent to the Herald-Tribune by Lodi and his wife, Esther Sabater. “St. Armands is a very popular and busy area most of the year and we thought it would be a good idea to offer our customers another place to get ice cream. It is closer to the beach and has a much larger outdoor seating area. When the Circle is busy, customers have another option to be there and enjoy our ice cream and excellent coffee.”

Settimi’s offers gelato made from a combination of ingredients from Florida and Italy, with some of the most popular flavors being pistachio, hazelnut, limoncello, guava and chocolate, Lodi said. It also offers beverages, including various coffee drinks and fruit smoothies.

DalMoros Fresh Pasta to Go at St. Aramnds Circle permanently closed

DalMoros offers customers the opportunity to customize their meals from a variety of pastas, sauces and toppings. These are ready in minutes and served in to-go boxes. The company also offers the classic Italian dessert tiramisu. While the restaurant on St. Armands Circle is closed, DalMoros still has locations across Florida in St. Petersburg, Delray Beach, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Hollywood, according to its website.

Settimi’s new location is currently open daily from 12:00pm to 9:00pm, but plans are in place to expand hours throughout the season. Settimi’s original location is open daily from 10:30am to 10:30pm. For more information, visit facebook.com/settimisgelato.
