I was dumped for bringing my own food on a restaurant date – here’s why I don’t regret it

Her date thought she was getting a snack – but he didn’t like that she had brought her own.

A fitness influencer has revealed that a man once got up and left in the middle of a first date when she was picking up a packed lunch at a nice restaurant.

Vanusa Freitas, 32, was excited about her first date with a new admirer at London’s The Shard but didn’t want to disrupt her strict diet.

“I didn’t want to stop my diet and decided to take my food to the restaurant myself,” Freitas told NeedToKnow.

“I thought it was a good idea, but he didn’t agree.”

The unnamed man was so turned off by Freitas’ obsession with her diet that he ended the date.

“We were in the middle of the date, he got up and left,” Freitas said.

“I didn’t know what to do.”

The model explained that tracking her diet could be crucial to her career.

“I didn’t want to stop my diet and decided to take my food to the restaurant myself,” Freitas told NeedToKnow.

“Not everyone understands that sometimes I’m in situations where I have to stick 100% strictly to my diet. When I have a commitment, like photo shoots, I tend to be more radical,” she said.

However, when Freitas was dumped in the middle of their first date, she realized she had gone too far.

“Now I strive for a healthy and real life. I do everything, but I always try to do physical activity, any exercise that I enjoy,” she said.

“Dancing also helps burn calories. The same goes for cycling and cleaning. So the ideal is to always stay active. That’s the secret, I think.”

Freitas still follows certain diets from time to time, but no longer allows her eating habits to affect her life.

“I am more at peace with my body and strive for balance,” she said. “I allow myself to deviate from the diet occasionally. At some point the body stabilizes.”

“You can eat well without having to make many sacrifices.”

Fortunately, Freitas was able to talk to her date about the incident and put the “embarrassing situation” behind her.

“I was very upset that day and so was he,” she said.

“We talked afterward and I apologized for what happened. It was our first date and although it didn’t start well, we managed to get over it.”

The two have had several more dates since then.

“I was just trying to maintain my healthy routine, but he thought it was too much,” Freitas said.

“Since this incident, I have been more careful about how and when I implement my strict diets.”
