I always shop for the coming season and have 10 items of clothing in mind for fall

Anyone else craving those 30-degree days? I’m ready for the crisp breeze, warm apple cider, spice candles, cardigans, and all things fall. I know I shouldn’t rush the seasons because winter is coming, but as a former fashion designer who’s used to designing a few seasons in advance, I can’t help but think ahead. As a shopping editor, I also love checking out the fall collections of all my favorite brands, including Madewell, J.Crew, Free People, Gap, and more. Petal & Pup Dana midi denim skirt with front slit

One of my favorite transitional pieces is skirts. In the summer, you can pair them with a tank top or t-shirt, and in the fall, layer them with a cardigan or sweater. Although I tend to wear shorter skirts and layer up regardless of the season, I add the Dana Front-Slit Denim Midi Skirt from Petal & Pup to my wardrobe before the season changes.

It comes in a light blue wash and in sizes 2 to 12. The midi skirt is made from 100% cotton and has a high-waisted fit, a front slit for freedom of movement and a classic button and zip closure. It also has functional pockets at the front and back of the skirt.

Free People – We The Free Striped Shirt by Freddie

Another of my favorite transitional pieces is a button-down shirt like this Free People We The Free Freddie striped shirt. The oversized, the better. I can wear it with French-tuck shorts in the summer or as a swimsuit cover-up. In the fall, it’s a match made in heaven under a chunky cardigan and a pair of my favorite jeans.

Available in six stripe variations and sizes XS to XL, the Free People button-up shirt is made from 100 percent cotton and has a relaxed, oversized fit that hits about mid-thigh, depending on your height. The collared shirt also features a pocket at the chest, dropped sleeves, cuffs that can be buttoned or unbuttoned, and a shirttail hem at the back for extra coverage.

Blanknyc Franklin High Waist Wide Leg Jeans

I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of black jeans for the last two years and Blanknyc’s Franklin Jeans could be it. They have a high-waisted, wide fit, rips at the knees and are made from soft, stretchy denim that flatters the figure. Plus, they come in sizes 24 to 31. Everyone needs a classic pair of black jeans in the fall and with their distressed look and silhouette that falls away from the body, they’re great for summer too. I’d just pair them with a tank top or t-shirt and when it gets colder, throw on a cardigan or light jacket over the top.
