Hungry AF fails with 60; Cupanion’s Kitchen earns 100

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – On Candler Road in Decatur, a gourmet fast-food restaurant was scrutinized by the health department during its last routine inspection.

Hungry AF failed with a score of 60 and a “U” for unsatisfactory. The report says an employee prepared raw chicken in the meat sink, raw beef was stored on ready-to-eat cheese, and chicken, shrimp and pasta were stored at unsafe temperatures.

Atlanta News First interviewed Hungry AF management and asked if the food was now safe to consume.

“Yes. Yes, that’s it,” said a Hungry AF manager.

Management declined to comment further but told us all violations had been corrected. However, we noticed an old inspection score of 91 on the wall instead of their failing report of 60.

And now an update from Midtown Atlanta: After failing two consecutive inspections, the Peachtree Street Sugar Factory improved slightly this week with a score of 71 and a “C” on a re-inspection.

Cupanion’s Kitchen and Coffee on Roswell Road in Atlanta scored 100 points on their last health inspection. Congratulations, they are this week’s Golden Spatula Award winners. They’ve been in business for about six years now. They’re family owned and operated and everything on the menu is $17 or less. The owners used to be private chefs, so this is a chef-inspired breakfast and lunch cafe. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is made from scratch and delicious. Plus, the chefs can make small changes to the dishes you order on the menu so you get what you want.

The menu includes Greek salad with falafel, avocado toast, potato hash with root vegetables and eggs, and the Fried Chicken Biscuit, which is a sweet potato biscuit with pimento cheese grits. Man, is it good!
