Hundreds of reporters left hanging at Yongsan Police Station after Suga fails to show up

On August 22, confusion arose when it was reported that BTS member Suga, who is under investigation for drunk driving, was scheduled to appear for his first police interview. However, this turned out to be false, leading to chaos at the scene.

Earlier today, there were rumors that Suga would appear at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul to be questioned about his drunkenness charges. Hundreds of reporters who had arrived early had prepared themselves and were waiting in orderly fashion.

The police had originally planned to keep the questioning confidential, but news of Suga’s appearance leaked out last night, so a large number of reporters gathered at the scene early in the morning.

One of the key questions was whether Suga would have to face the media for a photo shoot. A police official said the process followed the same rules as for any other suspect. However, since Yongsan Police Station has no underground parking and the entrance is narrow, it was likely that Suga would have to get past reporters.

But when the news spread among the assembled reporters that HYBE (Suga’s agency) had stated that he would not appear today, the atmosphere became chaotic. Some reporters quickly left the event, while others who did not trust HYBE’s information remained, keeping the situation hectic.

To recap, on August 26, Suga was found drunk on a foldable electric scooter in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, Seoul. He fell and was spotted by a patrol officer conducting a breathalyzer test. As a result, the Yongsan Police Station booked him for violating traffic rules and launched an investigation.

Suga has been working as a social worker since last September and is expected to end his service in June 2025.
