Huge tree falls on house in Chelmsford during storm – Boston News, Weather, Sports

CHELMSFORD, MASS. (WHDH) – A violent storm that passed through Massachusetts Thursday afternoon brought wind gusts of up to 60 mph, strong enough to knock down trees and power lines – a scenario that played out in Chelmsford, where a home was damaged by a large tree.

Michelle Philoon and her husband spent the day on the Cape, leaving their teenage sons at home, when she received a call that a tree had fallen on their house.

“I just didn’t expect it to be this bad,” she said. “The worst part was that they were fine. Now that I see this, I can’t believe it.”

When they assessed the damage, they realized that one thing was still missing: their beloved cat, Zoe.

After searching everywhere, they found Zoe hiding under a bed

“Such a relief. I mean, they mean as much to me as my human children and I’m so happy to know she’s OK. We’ll take her to the grandparents and see what happens next,” Philoon said.

According to National Grid, more than 3,000 customers in Massachusetts have been without power since Thursday evening, many of them in the Chelmsford and Lowell areas.
