After the third season of Emily in ParisCostume designer Marylin Fitoussi teased to ELLE.com that it might finally be time for Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) to “embrace French culture a little”—both in her wardrobe and in her personal life. “This young American woman says, ‘Oh, the high-waisted pants with the wide legs… (can) I take them and do them in my own style?'” Now, with season four streaming in two parts on Netflix, Fitoussi’s vision is taking shape.
In Season 4, Emily still struts around the City of Lights in neon colors and dangerously high heels, but she also opts for trousers, button-downs and blazers that reflect a more “mature” French sensibility. “She has a lot more control, maybe a lot more power,” Fitoussi recently said Fashion fan“I think what will define the new season is this masculine-feminine twist that we’ve never had before.”
This new aesthetic, although not absolutely more subdued, suits an older, more confident Emily. And it’s perfectly in line with this year’s fashion trends: Corporate-core, gender-neutral and academic-influenced styles all appear in Em’s reinvented wardrobe. If your closet is craving Emily’s unorthodox brand of urban elegance, here’s where to start shopping.

Now, don’t expect Emily to start wearing all black in Paris due to peer pressure. Perhaps nothing characterizes Fitoussi’s creations better than color, and Collins’ wardrobe in Season 4 is no exception.
One of Em’s first looks is this highlighter yellow ensemble, consisting of a leather shirt by Possery over a ruffled blouse by Joli Closet and a corduroy mini skirt by Isabel Marant. Never one to skip accessories, Emily carries a Silvia Tcherassi bag and her diamond necklace to tie everything together. But my favorite detail of this look may be the gold ponytail cuff that keeps Emily’s hair in place. Accessories brand Lelet NY recently made quite a splash with these hair pieces: expect them to become even more popular after their launch. Emily in Paris Miniature.
Show 2
I’m weak for a good suit. When Emily tracks down the runaway Camille at the beginning of the fourth season, she wears this cobalt blue set with a Pierre Hardy bag – a sign that, as Collins recently said, Harper’s BAZAAR UK, Emily “literally wears the pants”.”
Show 3
Emily has never been afraid to wear shorts to the office. This season, she’s marching into her luxury marketing agency in a pair of green leather shorts from Manokhi, teamed with a scarab-print blouse from La DoubleJ. You can swap the shorts for a skirt if you want something more workwear-appropriate, then finish off your version of the outfit with gold earrings and stacking rings.
Watch 4
Emily’s beloved newsboy cap makes a return appearance in Season 4, alongside her huge Isabel Marant teddy coat and Christian Louboutin over-the-knee boots. Hey, at least we know she’s warm!
Looks 5
One of my personal favorite looks from season four makes a brief cameo appearance in a cafe scene where Emily is meeting with two coworkers. She wears a purple striped Sébline shirt and patterned vest by Miu Miu, with a matching tie, diamond tie clip and silver rings. The outfit perfectly embodies Emily’s elevated but playful aesthetic, combining classic cuts with geometric shapes and bold colors.

Another typical Emily office look: a baby pink Jacquemus cardigan with a Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini romper and a Kate Spade bag. As Fitoussi recently put it Forbes: “A lot of people say to me, ‘Emily can’t afford what she has in her closet.’ And I say, ‘Of course not, nobody can!’ But do you want to see her in a hoodie and jeans? Nobody wants to see that. It’s something for the imagination to see these beautiful things created by brilliant people.”

A second tie! This one is decorated with black and white florals, creating a nice pattern contrast with Emily’s windowpane print shirt underneath. Fitoussi refined the look with a scarlet leather coat and a fur-trimmed shoulder bag from Ozias.
Watch 8
In Season 4, when Emily tries to get Alfie to give her a campaign-must-have kiss, she dons a striped Tara Jarmon costume with a matching Panama hat from Lastelier. The Tara Jarmon jacket and pants are no longer available, but you can create your own (more casual) version with a striped RHODE costume and a hat from Cuyana Ecuador.
