How Texas QB was listed on the availability report

Texas Football’s injury report Friday did not provide any additional information about the progress of Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is recovering from an abdominal strain.

Ewers is listed as questionable in the updated report. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said earlier in the week that the Longhorns would decide Friday whether Ewers would play against Mississippi State (1-3) on Saturday (3:15 p.m., SEC Network).

Texas (4-0) started Arch Manning in Week 4 against Louisiana-Monroe with Ewers sidelined due to injury.

PREPARING FOR THE UNKNOWN: Texas football’s biggest challenge in preparing for Mississippi State

Ewers, a redshirt junior, has rushed for 6,347 yards since arriving at Texas for the 2022 season. The Longhorns are 19-6 in the games he has started.
