Hillsborough County woman wins  million playing scratch-off game

The Florida Lottery recently announced that Isabelle Turner of Tampa won a $1 million prize from the $1,000,000 scratch-off game “A Year For Life Spectacular.”

The Hillsborough County woman elected to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $640,000.00.

The winner from Central Florida purchased her winning ticket at Publix, 5801 Southwest 75th Street in Gainesville. The retailer received a bonus commission of $2,000 for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.

She picked up her prize at the lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee.

The $50 scratch-off game, 1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR, offers two grand prizes worth $1 million each per year for life and 234 prizes worth $1 million. Additionally, this ticket is filled with cash prizes worth over $1.6 billion.

The overall winning probability of the game is 1 in 4.50.

Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s game portfolio, accounting for approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Additionally, since their inception, scratch games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires and generated more than $19.24 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $46 billion to improving education and sending more than 983,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenues into the Florida economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,600 lottery retailers and transfers to education. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has paid out more than $95.7 billion in prizes and made more than 4,000 people millionaires.
