Hartsfield-Jackson Airport prepares for Labor Day

DALLAS – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is preparing for a busy Labor Day travel period, expecting over 2.3 million passengers between Wednesday, August 28 and Wednesday, September 4.

Airport authorities have identified Friday, August 30, as the peak travel day and expect more than 349,000 passengers to travel through ATL.

ATL Acting General Manager Jan Lennon stressed that high passenger volumes are expected and assured travelers that the airport and its partners are working diligently to ensure smooth operations throughout the holiday weekend.

The above follows the failure of the traffic management system at ATL a month ago, which is critical to managing operations at DL’s main hub. The failure exacerbated the logistical challenges faced by Delta Air Lines (DL) during the Crowdstrike IT outage.

Travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before their flight and to double-check their baggage for prohibited items before reaching the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint.

The airport adds that special attention must be paid to regulations regarding firearms, as they must be securely packed and stowed in checked baggage.

For real-time updates on parking, security wait times and other services, passengers can visit ATL’s official website (ATL.com) or the airport’s social media accounts.

In addition, passengers are advised to regularly monitor airline websites and social media channels for up-to-date travel information.
