The bear was expected to be the frontrunner this year, Hacking took home the award, the third of the evening. He also won the categories “Best Screenplay” and “Best Actress”, which went to Jean Smart.

In his acceptance speech, series co-creator Paul W. Downs called on the industry to not only support shows where their lead is over 60%, but also to create more shows where that lead is the focus.

“When we pitched this show about two women, one of whom was over 60, we didn’t know if we were going to sell it and we have to thank everyone who helped make this show,” Downs said. “About 20 percent of our population is over 60 and only three percent of these characters on TV are 60 and I would love to see more of them because even though I’m a great young supporting character, I’d love to be a great old leading character.”
