Hackers ruined everyone’s weekend at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

The eleventh-busiest airport in the United States had a tough weekend. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport experienced significant delays on Saturday and Sunday after several of the airport’s computer systems failed due to what authorities believe was a technical glitch.

“This morning, the Port of Seattle experienced certain system outages that indicate a possible cyberattack,” the airport said. in a Facebook post on Saturday. “The port has isolated critical systems and is currently working to restore full operations. However, there is no estimated time yet for return.”

The Aircraft tracking website FlightAware According to the airport, SeaTac had few canceled flights, but significant delays. 53 percent of departing flights took off later than expected, while the figure for arriving flights was 46 percent.

From Sunday nightThe airport was still reporting delays and asking passengers to allow more time than usual to catch their flight as telephone and baggage screening systems were not fully functional. 36 percent of departures were delayed, as were 30 percent of arrivals.

Everything seemed to be running smoothly on Monday morning, but the airport website is still down. The Seattle Times reports that there is no immediately available estimate for the resumption of full operations.
