Second break-in at non-lethal weapons store
A store in Van Nuys that sells non-lethal weapons was broken into twice within a week.
LOS ANGELES – A store in Van Nuys that sells non-lethal weapons was broken into twice within a week.
The most recent incident was reported around 12:30 a.m. Monday at the Nake store on Van Nuys Boulevard near Raymer Street.
Authorities said at least one suspect in the latest break-in was seen on surveillance video using a rock to smash the glass door of the store, which sells nonlethal pistols and rifles commonly used by police. The weapons do not require a permit or background check and use kinetic projectiles and CO2 gas.
The same store had been the target of a burglary spree the week before on Tuesday, August 20, at around 3 a.m., when a group of at least five suspects smashed a window and entered the store.

Store owner Mike Mahfoud said the suspects were in the store for about 20 minutes last week when the alarm went off and fled with at least half a dozen weapons and projectiles.

The Van Nuys station of the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the break-ins, but no arrests have been made.
