This group of tourists, traveling through Yellowstone National Park in one of those historic yellow buses from the 1920s, certainly got their money’s worth in terms of wildlife viewing, as a female grizzly bear, being chased by a male grizzly bear, sprinted past the vehicle as they pulled over to the shoulder.
The Greater Yellowstone ecosystem is home to an estimated 965 grizzly bears. About 150-200 of these grizzlies have their home in part or all of the park. Whenever you enter Yellowstone, there’s a chance you’ll catch a glimpse of one of these majestic animals, but seeing one the way tourists would have in the 1920s is a real treat.
About Yellowstone’s Historic Yellow Bus:
Yellowstone’s legendary yellow bus tours began in the 1920s. At the height of their popularity in Yellowstone in the mid-1920s, more than 400 of these vehicles operated in the park. The current fleet of 13-passenger vehicles retains their original appearance, including retractable fabric roofs and picture windows, but has been modernized with frames and engines from a 2007 Ford E450 van. A very cool way to experience our country’s first national park. If you’re interested in booking a tour, CLICK HERE.
