Green Bay Packers waiting to determine severity of Jordan Love’s injury

Fear.

Worries.

Discomfort.

These feelings were undoubtedly running through every member of the Green Bay Packers as they awaited news of Jordan Love’s injury.

Love, the Packers’ franchise quarterback, suffered an apparent leg injury in the final moments of the Green Bay Packers’ 34-29 loss to Philadelphia on Friday in São Paulo, Brazil.

As the Packers prepared for a 10-hour-plus flight home, the season-opening loss was secondary. Love’s health – and the fate of Green Bay’s season – were at stake.

“Yeah, that was tough to see,” Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark said. “That’s the franchise. Hopefully he can come back next week and be OK.”

Love was injured on the third-to-last play of the game.

The Packers had a first-and-10 from their own 49-yard line with 15 seconds left when Love was pressured by Philadelphia defenders Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat. Love made a backward pass to Josh Jacobs, but Carter grabbed hold of Love’s leg and Sweat pinned the quarterback to the ground.

Love writhed in pain for several seconds and eventually had to be led off the field by team doctor Pat McKenzie and head coach Nate Weir.

Afterward, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts came to the Green Bay sideline to check on Love, and there were many prayers and thoughts for Love on social media.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur responded to two questions about Love by saying, “I don’t know.” Green Bay’s players were also in the dark, but extremely concerned.

“To be honest, I’m not sure,” Packers wide receiver Christian Watson said. “Whatever it is, we’re going to support him 100%. We know what kind of guy he is. How he approaches everything. Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through it. We’re going to get through it. I’ll leave the rest to God. Right now, I’m not sure.”

Defensive end Rashan Gary added: “Man, that’s our quarterback. I still have to check on him. I just hope he’s OK.”
