Gray Stone Day School has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement Program School Honor Roll and will receive platinum designation, the school announced Tuesday.
The College Board, which administers the Advanced Placement Program (AP), annually recognizes schools based on criteria that maximize their commitment to improving the culture of college attendance, providing students with opportunities to earn college credit, and reflect college readiness.
The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of honors: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
To qualify for the Platinum Badge, the highest of the four AP school honor levels, a school must meet or exceed the following criteria:
• Expand the school’s collegiate culture by allowing 80% of seniors to take an AP course before graduation.
• Support college affordability by allowing 50% of seniors to earn college credit by achieving an AP exam score of 3.
• Maximize students’ college readiness by giving 15% of seniors the opportunity to take a total of five AP courses over the course of their high school career.
Gray Stone Day School not only achieved the Platinum criteria for each of the AP school’s three awards, but also significantly exceeded those criteria.
“This prestigious recognition is a testament to our students’ commitment to their post-secondary future and our faculty’s unwavering commitment to student success. We celebrate this milestone knowing that it represents not only the success of our school programs, but also the incredible potential and bright future of our students,” said Helen Nance, Chief Administrative Officer.
“AP gives students the opportunity to engage in college-level work, earn college credit and improve their GPA,” said Trevor Packer, director of the AP program. “The schools that received this award are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still achieve strong performance – they represent the best of AP.”
Gray Stone Day School is a regional college preparatory school for grades 6-12 that is free to attend.
