The runs came early and often, with Lake Country (38-42) scoring four times in their first at-bat on a three-run double by first baseman Curtis Terry and a run-scoring two-bagger by designated hitter Marek Chlup.

The DockHounds got two of those runs back in the third inning on a two-run home run by third baseman Josh Altmann before scoring three more in the fifth inning to tie the score at 9-9.

Shortstop Ramón Bramasco hit a two-run blast in the sixth inning, followed by a solo home run by Emery that gave Winnipeg a 12-9 lead.

With the score tied 12-10 in the eighth inning, Emery recorded his third and fourth runs batted in of the day with a base hit that brought in Bramasco and right fielder Max Murphy.

Lake Country didn’t give up though, as a two-out, two-run home run by right fielder JT Benson cut the Goldeyes’ lead to two. The game ended with the tying run at first base.

There were 14 extra-base hits in the game – five home runs, one triple and eight doubles. All but two players had at least one hit.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson (W, 5-4) earned the win as a replacement for Mitchell Lambson. Trogrlic-Iverson entered the game in the fifth inning and pitched 2.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit.

Braden Boisvert (L, 2-2) was blamed for the loss because he allowed the home runs in the sixth inning. He allowed three runs on three hits in four innings and had seven strikeouts.

Lambson was acquired on Sunday morning from the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican Baseball League. He won the 2017 American Association championship with the Goldeyes and was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year following the 2019 season, in which he went 13-4 with a 3.11 earned run average.

The Goldeyes return home to Blue Cross Park on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CDT to begin the decisive game against Sioux Falls. Zac Reininger (8-4, 3.55 ERA) will start for Winnipeg, while the Canaries will counter with fellow right-hander Ryan Zimmerman (5-7, 5.86 ERA).
