Goku Day poll results reveal Goku’s best fights

On Goku Day 2024, May 9th, the official Dragon Ball Site conducted a poll and asked fans to vote on what they think is their favorite of Goku’s many fights, from Dragon Ball through Dragon Ball SuperThe votes were counted and the top 100 from the countless battles that Goku fought were announced.

The Top 10 fights got their own special Dragon Ball Weekly Update video, in which Victory Uchida, the editor for Dragon Ball Superand Toyotarou, Dragon Ball SuperThe lead illustrator of discussed the list and what their favorite fights were. Toyotarou’s fight was the final fight with Kid Buu at the end of the original series of Dragon Ball Z.

The criteria for the list, according to the original Dragon Ball site, were the following:

  • Verbal banter and rock-paper-scissors count
  • As long as Goku enters the competition with fighting spirit, fights against inorganic enemies count too! However, rocks and the like, whose destruction is merely the result of another fight, do not count!
  • From the start of a battle to the end of it, a battle counts. Characters that Goku battles more than once are added to the lineup the number of times they battled Goku!

The top ten battles according to fan voting are as follows:

  1. Ultra Instinct Goku vs Jiren, Dragon Ball Super
  2. Kid Goku vs Grandpa Gohan, Dragon Ball
  3. Goku and Gohan against Perfect Cell, Dragon Ball Z
  4. Goku vs. Majin Vegeta, Dragon Ball Z
  5. Goku sparring with Gohan, Dragon Ball Super
  6. First fight between Goku and Vegeta, Dragon Ball Z
  7. Final battle with Moro, Dragon Ball Super
  8. Kid Goku against the all-powerful Great Demon King Piccolo, Dragon Ball
  9. Goku vs Frieza, Dragon Ball Z
  10. Goku vs Jackie Chun, Dragon Ball

Some notable entries that cracked the top 50 were Goku firing a Kamehameha at Yamcha’s car from the original Dragon Ballthe first duel with Piccolo, Goku and Vegeta, who race against each other in kart races in Dragon Ball Superand Goku catches the giant fish, the first fight he ever had Dragon Ball.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball and following the death of series creator Akira Toriyama, fans around the world expressed their affection for the creator and his groundbreaking work. Dragon Ballincluding its employees.
