Giant nude statue of Donald Trump arrives in Phoenix

A giant nude statue depicting former President Donald Trump appeared in downtown Phoenix on Thursday.

The mysterious traveling figure first appeared in Las Vegas earlier this week. It is titled “Crooked and Obscene,” according to a press release from people who claim responsibility for its creation.

“The title reflects the controversial aspects attributed to both the figure depicted and the nature of the installation itself,” the press release states. “By revealing a naked puppet of Donald Trump in an unexpected setting, the project aims to provoke thought and encourage open discussion about the complexities of political power and leadership.”

It was unclear who exactly was behind the project.

People involved in the project refused to identify themselves Thursday near the exhibition site at Washington and 24th Streets. The immediate area was private property and not open to the public.

Representatives of businesses in the area, which include a cannabis dispensary, said they had nothing to do with the statue.

According to the press release, the statue was made of foam and rebar and weighed nearly 6,000 pounds. A few people stopped by to take photos of the 12 meter tall installation.

It’s unclear when the statue will next be moved. The release said this was the “second stop” of the piece. Both Nevada and Arizona are considered battleground states in the November 5th general election.

While in Las Vegas, the statue was harshly criticized by the Nevada Republican Party.

“The Nevada Republican Party strongly condemns the deplorable statue of President Donald J. Trump that recently hung from a crane along Interstate 15,” said a statement shared on X. “As families drive through Las Vegas, they are forced to watch this offensive puppet that is deliberately designed to shock rather than engage in comprehensive dialogue.”
