Geralt actor Liam Hemsworth says The Witcher 3 is one of the best games of all time

The Witcher TV series has struggled to keep fans on board in recent years, largely thanks to the departure of Geralt actor Henry Cavill. Following this announcement, there were numerous criticisms of the series, whether due to questionable sets or scenes that contradicted the official lore of series author Andrzej Sapkowski.

However, the show must go on, and new Geralt actor Liam Hemsworth has the extremely unenviable task of picking up where Cavill left off. We haven’t seen Hemsworth in action yet, as we’ve only gotten a brief snippet of the actor’s version of Geralt since his takeover was announced, but he’s been saying all the right things lately to try and wow fans of the series to address.

First discovered by Redanian Intelligence, Hemsworth was recently invited to LIVE With Kelly and Mark (an American talk show) to discuss his upcoming film Lonely Planet. At the start of the interview, Hemsworth explains that he filmed The Witcher in Wales. This is the first time the actor has spoken about his new role as Geralt in this interview since it was announced.

Hemsworth then talks about how he got the role, explaining that he hadn’t seen the TV series or read the books, but that he really enjoyed The Witcher 3 when it came out. He then claims that he was excited to take on the role of Geralt when Netflix called because he is a fan of the video game, calling The Witcher 3 “one of the best video games of all time.”

“I hadn’t seen the TV show. And I hadn’t read the books. But I played the video game like ten years ago or something. And it remains one of the best video games of all time to this day. And Netflix came to me almost two years ago and said they wanted me to just step in and take over.”

While he may not be the mega-fan of the series that Henry Cavill is, which is why fans of the series connected with him in the first place, it’s clear that Hemsworth is a fan of The Witcher in general. The Witcher 3 was a game that delighted many fans of the series, so many viewers may see him as a kindred spirit. Now let’s keep our fingers crossed that Hemsworth actually delivers.
