Georgia restaurant serving the state’s best barbecue that’s not to be missed

Delicious barbecue isn’t limited to regions with famous variations of the cuisine, like Texas-style smoked brisket or the spicy Memphis ribs variety; it can be found all over the country.

According to a list of Cheapism Of the restaurants serving the best “bucket list barbecue” in every state, Fresh Air Bar-B-Que in Jackson is the top spot for must-try barbecue in Georgia. The BBQ joint’s website praises its “old-fashioned, earth-oven-cooked barbecue” and says it’s “nationwide known for its slow cooking methods and consistent quality.”

Fresh Air Bar-B-Que, 1164 Highway 42 S, has a 4.4-star Google rating and more than 2,000 reviews. The restaurant has another location at 3076 Riverside Drive in Macon.

Here’s what the site had to say about this delicious BBQ restaurant:

“The barbecue at Fresh Air, a restaurant that dates back to 1929, is simple and iconic. Ground pork is pretty much all you get, but that’s all you need when you top it with Fresh Air’s vinegar sauce and slap it on white bread. It’s served with Brunswick stew, a regional specialty made from leftover grilled meat and vegetables.”
