George Clooney hits back at Trump’s demand to withdraw from politics

Actor George Clooney turned the tables to the former president Donald Trump’s July demanded that he “get out of politics and return to television.” He said he was more than willing to negotiate with the former president if he also follow his own advice.

The actor, a well-known Democratic fundraiser, wrote a New York Times Editorial calls on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the election campaign and make way for Vice President Kamala Harris to run the campaign. Biden’s eventual decision to withdraw his candidacy and endorse Harris forced Trump to quickly adjust his campaign strategy.

Clooney appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! On Tuesday evening, as host Jimmy Kimmel asked him about the editorial and the prospect of a second Trump administration.

The comedian read some of Trump’s comments about the actor that he posted on social media. In the comment, he called him a “fake movie actor” for calling on Biden to drop out of the race and also called on Clooney to “get out of politics and get back to television.”

“You know, if he does it, I will do it,” Clooney clapped back to applause.

“That’s a compromise I would make,” the Hollywood star told the presenter.

Clooney spoke openly with Kimmel about his comment, admitting that entering the political sphere was a risk: “You have to understand that you are not only attacking Trump, but potentially affecting the future of the nation.”

However, he also praised the president for his decision: “Biden has done something truly extraordinary.”
