The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline at self-dispensing stations in Los Angeles County rose six-tenths of a cent to $4.561 on Saturday.
The average price is half a cent lower than a week ago, 5.9 cents lower than a month ago and 79.6 cents lower than a year ago, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The price has fallen by $1.933 since its record high of $6.494 on October 5, 2022.
The average price in Orange County rose 1.1 cents to $4,489. That’s eight-tenths of a cent less than a week ago, 5.3 cents less than a month ago, and 81 cents less than a year ago. The average price in Orange County has fallen $1.97 since rising to a record high of $6,459 on October 5, 2022.
“Southern Californians planning a Labor Day road trip will pay less at the pump than they did last year,” said Doug Shupe, communications manager for the Automobile Club of Southern California.
The national average price fell 1.3 cents for the second day in a row to $3.361. That’s 6 cents less than a week ago, 15.2 cents less than a month ago and 47.6 cents less than a year ago. The national average price has fallen $1.655 since its record high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“The war clouds overseas are less gloomy right now and the Atlantic is also calm now, which is easing pressure on oil prices,” said Andrew Gross, national public relations manager for AAA. “More and more retail stores east of the Rockies are selling gasoline for under $3 a gallon.”
