Gasoline prices in Kentucky continue to fall

Gas prices across the Commonwealth continue to fall, following a trend that has been ongoing for weeks.

The average price per gallon in Kentucky for the week of August 19, 2024 is $3.09. That’s four cents less than last week (August 12, 2024), nine cents less than two weeks ago (August 5, 2024), and 15 cents less than three weeks ago (July 29, 2024). It’s also a decrease of 44 cents from the week of August 21, 2023, when the average price per gallon was $3.53.

According to AAA East Central, the average prices per gallon of unleaded gasoline at self-service gas stations in various cities are as follows:

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline fell three cents from last week to $3.41, nine cents less than a month ago and 45 cents less than a year ago.

AAA added, according to the Energy Information Administration, that gas demand rose to 9.04 million last week from 8.96 million barrels per day, while total domestic gasoline inventories fell to 222.2 million barrels from 225.1 million barrels. Gas production fell to 9.7 million barrels per day, but crude oil production rose 1.4 million barrels from the previous week, after hitting a historic high of 13.4 million barrels.
