Gasoline prices in Florida remain low ahead of holiday weekend

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – As Floridians prepare for their Labor Day travel, gasoline prices in Florida are expected to drop to their lowest levels in three years during the holiday weekend.

In 2023, Florida drivers paid $3.68 per gallon on Labor Day. In 2022, it was $3.52 and in 2021, it was $3.02.

Currently, the average price of gasoline in Florida is $3.27 per gallon, but prices may fluctuate due to increased demand from holiday travel. AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said gasoline prices should remain stable through Labor Day weekend.

“The good news is that oil prices have remained below $80 a barrel. This has kept gas prices somewhat contained as well. Unless we see a significant increase in crude oil prices, gas prices should remain well below the highest prices we have seen at this time this year,” Jenkins said.

Panama City continues to be one of the areas with the lowest gas prices. The average price is currently $3.07 per gallon, although some gas stations offer cheaper gas.
