In Canadian cities, gasoline prices fell by an average of two cents per liter of regular gasoline this week. One oil analyst says the summer peak is over.
The average price fell from $1.683 to $1.663 between August 1 and August 8, according to data from Kalibrate. Sudbury, Ontario, was the biggest loser, with a price drop of 16 cents per litre. The biggest increase was in Kelowna, BC, at 5.3 cents per litre.
Andy Lipow of Lipow Oil Associates believes gasoline prices are likely to fall in the fall because supplies will be enough to meet demand until Labor Day, but he adds a caveat: There could be a disruption in oil supplies due to conflict in the Middle East.
“If that doesn’t happen, gasoline prices will have reached their summer peak,” said Lipow Yahoo Finance this week.
