Garlick hits late home run, Reno closes series against El Paso with 12-10 win | Reno Aces

El Paso, Texas. – Trailing by one run in the eighth inning, Kyle Garlick hit a 424-footer with two runs to give the Reno Aces (26-18, 61-58) a win over the El Paso Chihuahuas (15-30, 46-74) in the series finale on Sunday at Southwest University Park. With this victory, the Aces have completed the series.

Garlick finished his night with two base hits and extended his hitting streak to seven games, batting 10-for-29 (.344) with two home runs and nine RBIs.

Bryson Brigman once again had a great game, putting his team ahead with a three-run home run in the first inning. One inning later, the tricky all-rounder brought home Andrew Knizner and Tristin English with a two-out single, bringing his RBI total to five on the day. Brigman now has a team-leading 11-game hitting streak, hitting 21-for-39 (.538) with three home runs and 15 RBIs during that span.

Knizner had his best day at bat as a member of the Aces, hitting 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. The backstop put Reno on the scoreboard with a two-RBI single in the first inning and added two more with a double to left field an inning later. Knizner has been effective since joining Reno, hitting 10-for-26 (.385) in six games.

Michael Perez had three hits in Sunday’s win and scored the final run for Reno with an RBI single in the ninth inning, allowing Sergio Alcantara to score a run in the ninth inning. His three hits improved his season batting line to .256/.344/.419.

Scott McGough came out in the ninth inning and sealed the deal, earning his second save of the series after allowing one hit and one walk with two punchouts.

The Aces now return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, August 20th to host the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
