Fortnite v31.30 patch notes: Top 5 biggest changes

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 continues with another major update, most importantly preparing for the spooky season, as this year’s Fortnitemares event is set to begin in the coming weeks and a number of Halloween-themed collaborations and items also await you. This is one big change for anyone looking to grind at AFK XP.

We’ll cover everything in this update so you know what to expect when the servers come back online and you can jump into a match. However, even if the servers go live, PlayStation owners could face problems as the PlayStation Network is down and no one knows why.

The Fortnite team is finally cracking down on players who like to abandon their games and passively farm XP without having to do anything. Now, if you leave Fortnite inactive for 15 minutes, it will enter “sleep mode,” which pauses voice chat and cancels matchmaking, preventing you from engaging in games of any kind.

We don’t know the exact details yet, but this season will feature not one but two live events, the first of which will take place in this update. The details are still a mystery, but we have confirmation that the files for this event include a new film. Doctor Doom is clearly planning something big, and we’ll find out what it is very soon.

As Halloween approaches, Fortnite will be there as always with the Fortnitemares event, bringing us new collaboration skins to celebrate the spooky season. First up is Wave 2 of the Nightmare Before Christmas collaboration, which brings Pumpkin King and Sally into play. Additionally, some iconic horror characters join in the fun, namely Leatherface and Billy the Puppet from the Saw series.

Fortnite key is for Horde Rush mode. Four characters stood on a roof while monsters climb a building.

If you’re looking for co-op action, you’re in luck, because this year Horde Rush mode returns to Fortnitemares. This is a wave-based mode where you team up with a squad to eliminate the advancing horde and survive as long as possible. Undoubtedly, there will be quests and rewards with this mode once the event begins.

If you’re still behind on your Battle Pass progress this season, don’t worry because this season’s Level Up Quest Pack is coming very soon. These packs give you a total of 28 levels in simple quests released over a four-week period, giving you a big boost towards completing your Battle Pass if you haven’t already.
