The Florida football team will hit the road on Saturday and look to end September on a positive note when it plays at Mississippi State
The struggling Florida Gators (1-2, 0-1 SEC) suffered a 33-20 loss to Texas A&M at home last Saturday. UF has yet to hold a lead against a Power Four Conference opponent this season, as the Gators trailed 20-0 at halftime against TAMU and 24-10 at halftime in a 41-17 loss to Miami to open the season.
Mississippi State (1-2, 0-0 SEC) is also struggling after a 41-17 home loss to Toledo.
Florida is traveling to Mississippi State for the first time since defeating the Bulldogs 13-6 on Sept. 29, 2018. UF leads the standings 34-19 (two ties) but has a 5-7 overall record at David Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.
The Gators are 12-16 overall and 2-7 on the road under third-year coach Billy Napier. UF is seeking its first SEC win since beating South Carolina 41-39 on Oct. 14, 2023.
